Athlete's Foot Symptoms
Common athlete's foot symptoms are normally treated or cured with
over-the-counter ointments and sometime depending on the severity, prescribed
medications. The most common athlete's foot symptoms are flaking, peeling, or
cracked skin between the toes. The affected area is usually red and itchy. You
may feel burning or stinging, and there may be blisters, oozing, or crusting. In
addition to the toes, athlete's foot symptoms can also occur on the heels,
palms, and between the fingers.
If the foot fungus spreads to your nails, they can become discolored, thick, and
even crumble.
Symptoms of athlete's foot may include:
- Itching, stinging and burning on the soles of your feet
- Nails that are thick, crumbly, ragged, discolored or pulling away from
the nail bed
- Itching, stinging and burning between your toes, especially the last two
toes
- Cracking and peeling skin, especially between your toes and on the soles
of your feet
- Itchy blisters
- Excessive dryness of skin on the bottoms or sides of the feet
Call your doctor if athlete's foot symptoms do not go away within one month
of using self-care measures.
